Blood is Blood

about

This was recorded on a Tascam 8 track cassette recorder. Man I loved that thing. I added a loop put together from the recording itself as an intro. Also used the loop as compost elsewhere. It's kind of a protest song against ...well you'll get it.

lyrics

Blood is Blood

Well an evil wind stirring up the scent
Bad thoughts rise and are given vent
Vicious thoughts that are cruel and vile
The world's off center and the victim's stand trial

These thought are harbored and they poison the soul
Something snaps and the evil takes hold

Blood is blood ounce for ounce
Don't you know by now it's the thought that counts

What is this thing we call hate

Now I heard of a man with a necklace of bone
Show you the corpse and where the weapons were thrown
Two men and women drinking talking like fools
Don't realize when the jokes turn cruel

This is how the evil begins this is how it starts
Fills in an emptiness where there should be a heart
It's like a virus moving in the wind
Everyone is helpless when the violence begins

Blood is blood ounce for ounce
Don't you know by now it's the thought that counts

about

Jeff Smith Virginia

Inspired and influenced by early country, blues, rock and pop
Jeff Smith writes songs and tells elongated and elliptical stories about them. Jeff's Appalachian drawl slides in and around his guitar playing and Smith says “on a good night the stories and songs swing on top of a funky kind of country blues pop stomp”. Now residing in the swamps of Virginia, Smith performs club gigs and
concerts.
